MICHAEL R. CURRY
Michael has over a decade of corporate law, business law and real estate experience. He has been a licensed attorney in Illinois since 1999 representing individuals, small businesses and large international companies in the areas of business and corporate law, commercial and residential real estate and mechanics lien litigation.
Mr. Curry graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a minor in chemistry and communications. After graduating Marshall University he attended Chicago-Kent College of Law and received a Juris Doctor of Law. Michael decided to further his educational endeavors and graduated with a Masters of Law degree in Real Estate Law from the John Marshall Law School.
In 2004 Michael was appointed to the Village of Forest Park, Illinois Zoning Board of Appeal and served as Chairman of the Board for the next 3 years until his election to the Municipal Board of the Village of Forest Park in 2007. Mr. Curry served on the Municipal Board of the Village of Forest Park, Illinois as the elected Commissioner of the Department of Public Health and Safety. Under his direction and leadership, the Village implemented the most comprehensive commercial and residential building codes in the history of Forest Park thereby permitting the utilization of new “green” building products and new technologies. Additionally, under his direction, the Village’s Zoning Code was revised thereby resulting in a fair and more reasonable zoning appeals process as well as a new downtown business district. Mr. Curry also oversaw numerous private and public construction projects and developments. He was responsible for the implementation of numerous ordinances. Mr. Curry also lowered the operating cost and expenditures of his department by approximately 30% thereby saving taxpayers’ money without diminishing services.
Michael is the former president of the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park and former member of the Advisory Board to the Illinois District 91 School Board. He participates in many civic and community organizations including fostering children. He believes in helping others and looks forward to building a better community through cooperation and achieving common goals.
He has coached and managed several championship youth sports teams teaching kids not only proper fundamentals but more importantly life lessons and having fun.
In addition to working as an attorney, Mr. Curry is an adjunct professor at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois teaching Business Law. He has written several legal articles, conducted seminars/presentations on important legal issues and he is a guest writer for the Forest Park Post newspaper.
He resides in the south-suburbs of Chicago, Illinois with his wife, dog, and children including foster children.
